Bangladesh's Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali is currently in Dhaka due to illness, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has said, after media reports claimed he has been recalled ahead of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's official visit to Tokyo next week.
AKM Shahidul Karim, director general of the ministry's Public Diplomacy Wing, told The Business Standard (TBS) today (22 October), "I heard that he is sick. That is why he is now in Bangladesh."
Asked whether Daud would accompany the PM during his visit to Japan from 26 to 29 October, Shahidul said, "I am not sure. After the office reopens, it would be clear."
