(ANSA) - LONDRA, 20 OTT - On the occasion of Frieze London, one of the leading international platforms dedicated to contemporary art, the Italian Embassy in London opened the doors of Ambassador Fabio Cassese’s residence for Italy@Frieze, an initiative aimed at promoting the richness and creativity of the Italian art scene. The project brought together different generations, artistic languages, and sensibilities, juxtaposing leading figures of post-World War II Italian art with the latest artistic explorations and highlighting the evolution of creative expression on the national scene. “The Italian Embassy is particularly pleased to host an initiative such as Italy@Frieze,” Ambassador Cassese stated in his opening remarks. “Frieze is one of the most important international platforms dedicated to contemporary art, and London, with its extraordinary cultural vitality, is an essential meeting place for artists, galleries, collectors, institutions, and the public from around the world. We therefore felt that this was an excellent opportunity to bring a distinctive Italian presence to the heart of this major international event.” The exhibition brought together works by Lucio Fontana and Alighiero Boetti alongside those of Paola Pivi and Enrico David. These were complemented by works by Agostino Bonalumi, Remo Salvadori, Bice Lazzari, Marta Pierobon, Amedeo Polazzo, Elisa Sighicelli, and Alessandra Spranzi, presented by some of the Italian galleries participating in Frieze. Curated by Elena Geuna, the exhibition placed the works within the neoclassical setting of the ambassador’s residence, creating an experience in which the historical character of the spaces served as a counterpoint to contemporary artistic experimentation. The initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Folco Collection, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, and the galleries Apalazzo, Herald St, Moshe Tabibnia, P420, Richard Saltoun, Robilant, and Rossi & Rossi.
