The government yesterday released Shs21.82 trillion, equivalent to approximately 26 percent of the approved annual budget for the second quarter expenditure for the financial year (FY) 2026/2027. It, however, cautioned accounting officers that it is limited to only budgeted programmes.
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development said the released funds have been guided by annual and quarterly work plans, projected domestic revenue collections, available cash resources, and anticipated external financing disbursements.
Under these priorities; agro-industrialisation has been given Shs224.5b for agro-industrial research and innovation, operations and critical programme interventions.
