KATHMANDU: All matches of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) have been granted official List A T20 status by the International Cricket Council (ICC), marking a significant milestone for domestic cricket in Nepal.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the recognition on Wednesday, saying the ICC status would help strengthen the country’s cricketing structure and support the sport’s continued professionalization.
The third edition of the NPL is scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 21, 2026, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
According to CAN, the recognition is expected to enhance the tournament’s credibility and raise the international profile of Nepali cricket. Official List A status also places the league’s matches within the recognized framework of limited-overs cricket, potentially adding greater significance to performances by participating players.
The development comes as Nepal continues to expand its domestic cricket competitions and provide players with more opportunities to compete in a structured, professional environment.
The NPL has emerged as a key platform for showcasing domestic talent, attracting cricket fans and strengthening the country’s cricketing ecosystem. The ICC recognition is expected to further boost the league’s standing and contribute to Nepal’s broader ambitions of developing competitive players and gaining greater recognition on the international stage.
