A judicial magistrate in Karachi granted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) four-day physical remand of Awam Raj Tehreek chief Iqrar-ul-Hassan in a case concerning his social media posts.
The agency presented him before the Judicial Magistrate Karachi East-I in connection with FIR No. 101/2026, registered on October 10 under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, as amended in 2025.
According to the FIR, NCCIA alleges that Iqrar used his personal accounts on X, Instagram, and Facebook to spread “false, fabricated, anti-state and defamatory content” intended to instigate the public against the state, its institutions, and officials.

The case invokes Sections 9, 10, 20, 24, and 26-A of PECA. The FIR states that investigators examined publicly accessible posts and preserved the disputed content as evidence.
These are allegations recorded by the agency and have not been established in court. The remand order allows NCCIA to retain custody for investigation and does not determine guilt.
Iqrar was reportedly arrested in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority and subsequently brought to Karachi at around 1am.
Following the hearing, an NCCIA team took him back into custody and transferred him to the agency’s detention cell.
