Durabook has launched the R12, a new 12.2-inch rugged Windows tablet featuring Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and optional Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada graphics. The device comes with a 1,200-nit display, IP66 protection and up to 20 hours of battery life.
Durabook has introduced the R12, a new rugged Windows tablet designed for industrial applications, emergency services and other environments where conventional consumer hardware might struggle. The device packs Intel's latest Panther Lake processors and can even be configured with dedicated Nvidia RTX graphics for those who need the extra firepower.
It can be configured with several Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors such as the Core Ultra 7 366H, Core Ultra 7 356H and Core Ultra 5 336H, alongside several lower-powered alternatives and vPro-branded variants for enterprises. Buyers can configure the tablet with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory and 256 GB of NVMe storage, with two extra slots for additional storage expansion. Users can stick with the Panther Lake iGPU or upgrade to an Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada, which comes equipped with 8 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory.
On the display front, the Durabook R12 features a 12.2-inch WUXGA panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Durabook's DynaVue technology improves outdoor readability, while the touchscreen supports different operating modes for fingers, gloves, styluses and wet conditions. Optional active stylus support using Microsoft Pen Protocol 2.0 is also available.
The tablet is housed in a magnesium-alloy chassis that is 23.5 mm thick and weighs about 1.45 kg, depending on the configuration. It carries an IP66 rating for protection against dust and powerful water jets, alongside MIL-STD-810H certification and resistance to drops from heights of up to 1.83 metres. Durabook also specifies an operating temperature range of -29°C to 63°C.
Other Durabook R12 specifications include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and optional 4G LTE or 5G connectivity. Additional expansion modules can accommodate a second Ethernet port, barcode scanner, smart card reader, RFID reader or legacy serial connectivity. The R12 also features a 5 MP infrared camera for Windows Hello and an optional 13 MP rear camera.
Power comes from removable batteries, with Durabook claiming up to 20 hours of operation using its optional high-capacity battery configuration. An optional hot-swap feature allows batteries to be replaced without shutting the device down. There is also a detachable backlit keyboard that converts the tablet into a conventional 2-in-1 laptop when required.
The Durabook R12 is available to order starting October 22, 2026. However, the manufacturer has not disclosed a starting price and instead directs prospective customers to request a quotation.
