The Times has published a correction and has apologized to Gianni Infantino and FIFA for a report from last October 13 in which it attributed to the organization's president an alleged "second salary" that had not been disclosed. "This is incorrect. There was no second salary," the newspaper acknowledges in the text released by FIFA.
The correction also addresses the treatment of the expenses and reimbursements received by Infantino. According to the correction, Swiss reporting requirements do not consider those amounts to be remuneration and, therefore, FIFA is not required to include them as such in its annual report.

The British newspaper also retracts its claims regarding a property in Miami. It acknowledges that Infantino did not purchase the property at an allegedly lower value, as it had reported, and corrects the link it had suggested between the official, his family, and Shadi LLC: none of them is the legal owner or beneficiary of that company, nor do they exercise control over it.
'The Times closes its correction with an apology to the president and the organization for the errors. FIFA, for its part, has used the publication to defend its actions and question the spread of those accusations.'
A "concerted and continuous effort" to undermine FIFA
The organization maintains that there is a "concerted and ongoing effort" to undermine FIFA and its president, an allegation that, as it recalls in its statement, it had already made in August. This is the institution's own assessment, which calls on the media for responsibility and careful verification of their sources to avoid publishing and reproducing false and defamatory information.
FIFA says it accepts legitimate scrutiny, but warns that this does not justify amplifying false accusations. In this regard, it announces that it will continue responding "directly and vigorously" to information it considers inaccurate, misleading or false.
