The First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Zakari Mumuni, has called for stronger institutional partnerships, effective risk-sharing arrangements and well-prepared investment projects to unlock greater Asian investment in West Africa.
Delivering the keynote address at the High-Level West Africa–Asia Capital Dialogue in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, 15 October 2026, on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, Dr Mumuni highlighted Ghana's macroeconomic stabilisation efforts, stressing the importance of policy predictability, credible institutions and appropriate financing structures in attracting long-term investment.
He pointed to significant opportunities in agro-processing, manufacturing, energy, transport and logistics, digital services and financial technology, noting that the African Continental Free Trade Area offers further potential to drive regional trade, investment and economic transformation.
“Our responsibility in Africa is to make opportunities more investable. Our partners' responsibility is to assess those opportunities objectively and work with us to develop commercially viable solutions,” Dr Mumuni said.
He urged stakeholders to move beyond dialogue and translate commitments into tangible investments, sustainable business growth and enduring partnerships that create shared value for Africa and Asia.
