We’re almost there, almost back to the grind of another Notre Dame basketball season. Before you know it, there will be a foot of snow on the ground, temperatures will be below zero and another Atlantic Coast Conference game will be going up and down the court inside Purcell Pavilion.
To get you ready for those nights and get you ready for a Notre Dame season that starts in Rome on November 1 against Villanova in the Eternal City Tip-off, we’ll take an alphabetical player-by-player look - from 0 to 51 with several stops in between - at the 2026-27 Notre Dame basketball team over the next 16 days (Monday, October 12 thru Friday, October 30).
Who are these guys? What did they do last year? Where do they fit in this one? And what does fourth-year head coach Micah Shrewsberry think of them? Your snapshot of the 2026-27 Irish starts here.
∎ (5) Devin Brown
Hometown (High School/previous school): Lewis Center, Ohio (Olentangy Orange/Davidson)
Dimensions: 6-foot-6, 210 pounds
Projected position: Backup wing guard
Class: Sophomore
Notable number: Brown led Davidson in assists six times last season, when he earned All-Atlantic 10 freshman team honors.
25-26 stats: Averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23.4 minutes over 34 games with 27 starts. Shot .408 percent from the field, .310 from 3 and .632 from the foul line.
26-27 outlook: Offers depth and versatility to the backcourt when there might be nights when he's the first guard off the bench. Compete every day and help make everyone around him better.
Shrews on Brown: "He's a baller, a gamer. You watch him in drills and you're like, 'Man, I don't know if this kid's any good at all.' Then you start playing and you're like, 'Man, he's a hooper.' That's when you see it. You don't see everything when you're doing drills (but) he's another connector who makes everybody better."
