MADELEINE McCann suspect Christian Brueckner is facing at least six new charges, the Olive Press can reveal.
The sex offender, 49, who remains the prime suspect over the abduction of toddler Maddie in 2007, in Portugal, will appear in Germany’s Oldenburg court at 9.30am today.

The charges relate to an appeal over a verbal attack on a prison officer in October 2023 for which he was handed a six week sentence.
“He could either receive a longer sentence of up to a year, or the case could be thrown out,” a judicial source told the Olive Press.
At least four further charges – including additional assaults on police officers – have now also been filed in Germany.

Public prosecutors in Kiel, where he has been living for a year, confirmed to local media group FOCUS that the offenses also include coercion and the insult of police officers.
Brueckner was released from prison in Lower Saxony in September 2025, having completed a seven year sentence for the sadistic rape of a 72-year-old American in the Algarve in 2005.
He also escaped over five other sex crimes trials, when a judge threw out all charges.
The trio of rapes and two assaults on children took place in Portugal between 2000 and 2017.
After the judge was accused of corruption, the case was appealed and is now expected to be sent to retrial in January.
Brueckner remains under a five-year supervision order and must wear an ankle monitor. He remains the prime suspect in the abduction of Maddie in Germany and Portugal and must stay under 24-hour police surveillance.

According to the Kiel public prosecutor’s office, one incident on November 4, 2025 saw Brueckner physically assault police officers and injure one of them.
“There was suspicion that the accused was riding a bicycle while intoxicated. When police officers stopped him, he allegedly began to make fun of them,” explained Senior Public Prosecutor Michael Bimler to FOCUS.
According to the police officers involved, the suspect refused to follow them to the police car.
He then resisted being handcuffed and attacked them. One officer was injured in the process.
According to Section 113 of the German Criminal Code, resistance against law enforcement officers can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years.
A second incident, in which he is accused of injuring a police officer, occurred on June 6, 2026, also in Kiel.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Lage told FOCUS: “One of the officers noticed that the suspect was photographing them with a cell phone at a supermarket.
“He then refused to hand over the phone to the officers and violently resisted. An officer was injured in the process.”
According to Kiel police, investigations are also underway into another incident that occurred on April 20, when Brueckner allegedly entered a private property and got into a fight with the owner.
The Olive Press has continually monitored his movements around Spain and Portugal.
We were the first paper to arrive on the Algarve in 2020 when German police first announced that he was their main suspect.
The German prosecutors believe that Madeleine was murdered by Brueckner but they have not been able to charge him as yet.

German Police established that he was in the village of Praia da Luz when Madeline was snatched.
During an appeal, they asked for witnesses to come forward with information on who he may have talked to in a critical phone call just hours before Madeline went missing.
Brueckner recently admitted he was next to the Ocean Club apartment where the McCanns were staying, and told the Mail on Sunday, he was stopped three times by police during the initial investigation.
He continues to deny any involvement in her disappearance.
