The Ministry of Interior has referred a civil servant working at a border crossing to the Public Prosecution over allegations that he facilitated the departure of a Gulf national who was subject to a travel ban.
According to a security source, the ministry received information that the woman had left Kuwait despite being listed on the travel ban register. An investigation was subsequently launched, leading to suspicions that a civil servant born in 1984 had facilitated her departure by land.
The source said the case file did not specify the reasons for the woman’s travel ban. It also remained unclear whether the employee had received money in exchange for facilitating her departure or whether other circumstances were involved.
The source stressed that enabling a person subject to a travel ban to leave the country unlawfully constitutes an offence punishable by law. The employee has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and the necessary legal action.
