The Kaduna State Government has dismissed as fraudulent a letter circulating on social media, which claims that Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion for the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, described the document as a deliberate fabrication designed to damage the governor’s reputation for fiscal prudence.
The letter, dated October 18, 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” was purportedly addressed to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. It claims the governor budgeted and released the money for the flag-off scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Maiyaki said the claim was financially implausible, as the entire 2026 Kaduna State budget stands at N985.92 billion, less than half of the amount allegedly released. He added that there were no appropriation, approval or expenditure records to support it.
He also pointed to irregularities in the document, including the misspelling of the governor’s surname as “Uba Sai” and discrepancies in its presentation. The government further raised concerns over the apparent reproduction of the governor’s signature without authorisation.
“The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document. Governor Uba Sani neither authored nor authorised the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released for the presidential campaign flag-off. The allegation is entirely fictitious and represents a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” Maiyaki said.
The commissioner said the governor had, since assuming office on May 29, 2023, shown a consistent commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability, prioritising security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social protection. He cited the administration’s infrastructure programme, increased agricultural investment, rehabilitation of public institutions, settlement of inherited pension liabilities and expansion of social protection programmes.
Maiyaki expressed concern over what he called an emerging pattern of coordinated misinformation aimed at discrediting the governor ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that fabricating official correspondence is a criminal offence.
“Political competition must be conducted within the bounds of truth, decency and the law. The fabrication of government correspondence and circulation of false financial claims cannot be justified as legitimate political criticism. Those seeking to hold government accountable must do so through credible evidence, not manufactured documents,” he said.

He disclosed that steps were being taken to establish the origin of the letter, and called on security and investigative agencies to examine it and bring those responsible to justice for forgery or impersonation.
The commissioner urged members of the public and media organisations to exercise caution in circulating unverified documents, stressing that allegations concerning public expenditure should be properly verified before publication.
He reaffirmed that Governor Sani remains focused on consolidating peace, strengthening public institutions, accelerating infrastructure development and improving citizens’ welfare, and would not be distracted from prudent financial management.
