Kathmandu, October 15
The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress has decided to make elected representatives from the party ex-officio delegates to its general convention.
The decision covers elected chiefs and deputy chiefs of local governments, provincial assembly members, House of Representatives members and National Assembly members currently serving in their respective positions.
Agaraj Pokharel, coordinator of the faction’s central election committee, sent a letter to district election officers two days ago informing them of the decision.
“Since it has been decided that elected representatives of the Nepali Congress serving as chiefs and deputy chiefs of rural municipalities, municipalities, sub-metropolitan cities and metropolitan cities, provincial assembly members, members of the House of Representatives and members of the National Assembly under each electoral constituency will automatically become central general convention delegates from their respective constituencies, you are requested to implement the decision accordingly,” the letter states.
