The Chargers are still searching for their first win of the 2026 season, and they'll look to do so in Week 6.
It won't be easy, as they'll face one of the league's best teams and their division rival, the Chiefs.
As for the Chargers, they are among the worst teams in the league with an underhwhelming offense through the first five games.
Los Angeles will hope things break their way this time around to capture their first win.
Here are the five players to watch on Sunday.
Kimani Vidal
The star of the show in Week 5, Vidal broke off for a huge 42-yard touchdown run against the Broncos. Vidal was second in rushing attempts with eight and led the way with 57 yards on the ground. He scored the Chargers' lone rushing touchdown, and we'll see if his role can grow as Mike McDaniel will look to ride the 'hot hand.'
Justin Herbert
The Chargers quarterback is back on the list. He fumbled and threw a costly interception in Week 5. The goal in Week 6 is to protect the ball and avoid putting the defense in tough spots, especially late in the game. The Chiefs have been an opportunistic defense, and Herbert must protect the football behind an offensive line dealing with significant injuries. This is also Mike McDaniel's shot at proving this offense is heading in the right direction.
Akheem Mesidor
The Chargers' first-round pick is coming off a strong performance against the Broncos, where his pass-rush contribution helped create opportunities for the defense. The Chiefs have allowed only six sacks in four games, and while the assignment isn't easy, this could be Mesidor's chance to continue establishing himself as a legitimate pass-rushing threat.
Genesis Smith
With Derwin James ruled out for the second consecutive week, Smith will be worth watching. Smith is poised for a big game, as he is in line to create opportunities for himself and help a depleted Chargers secondary. The rookie safety has already shown signs of improvement, and this game will be the ultimate test against an elite Chiefs offense.
Teair Tart
Tart may face the biggest challenge among the five. The Chargers' defensive tackle will be tasked with containing Kenneth Walker III. This is a tall task, as Walker has already rushed for 537 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Tart has started all five Chargers games and recorded eight run stops. If Tart can control the interior and keep Walker from breaking into the second level, he'll give the Chargers a much better chance to win.
