Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant has backed a supporter’s suggestion that the Hoops should consider signing Dundee midfielder Ethan Hamilton.
The 28-year-old impressed during Dundee’s 2-2 draw with Rangers on Saturday, with his performances against Scotland’s top sides attracting attention.
Celtic supporter Kevin raised Hamilton’s name during a recruitment discussion on Go Radio, prompting Grant to praise the midfielder’s physical attributes and consistency in big matches.
The former Hoops star believes Hamilton has demonstrated his ability to compete against stronger opposition, pointing towards his previous displays against Celtic.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Grant said: “The thing is you say he’s performed in the big games. That’s what I liked about him. And every time Dundee have played Celtic recently, I think Dundee have been excellent.
“He’s been one of the reasons. Just with his power. People saw maybe he doesn’t receive it well off the back guys, but he’s got a hell of a lot more strength than he has weaknesses. And I think that’s always the big thing because you’re never ever going to be the complete player, but Ethan Hamilton, as you said, has been magnificent when he’s played in the big games.
“And I think that’s when you judge them. Can they handle playing against so-called better players? And I think he’s been able to do that. So, no, it’s a very good shout.”
