Barcelona keeps rolling. This Saturday, at La Cartuja, they secured their ninth consecutive league victory. A win that allows them to equal a new record, as they match Real Madrid's markfor the number of consecutive matches won at the start of the competition. The white club held the best record after stringing together nine straight wins in the 1968-1969 season.
The Merengue team was then coached by Miguel Muñoz and recorded those nine consecutive victories before drawing nil-nil on matchday ten against Pontevedra. With the win in Seville, Barcelona equals this record and will now have the opportunity to surpass it in the next round. Moreover, it so happens that their opponent will be Real Madrid, in the Clásico to be played at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday the 25th.
Hansi Flick's team is in extraordinary form. They have shown it since the start of the competition this season. To the league victories, we must also add the two wins they have achieved in the Champions League against Feyenoord and Galatasaray. Their extraordinary attacking power has been key to winning every match they have played.
Now they face two very complicated consecutive matches. The first will be next Tuesday against PSG, in the Champions League. The Blaugrana will visit the home ground of the current European champions and will have many difficulties maintaining their streak against Luis Enrique's team. Afterwards, during the weekend, they will face Real Madrid in a key match to assess their options in the fight for LaLiga.
