Frankies Bikinis and Barefoot Dreams have released their first collaborative capsule of cozy loungewear fashions — perfect for layering up amid the crisp fall air.
“I feel like in this oversaturated fashion industry, I really want everything we’re doing to make sense, feel right and tell the right story. Barefoot Dreams was founded in Malibu a long time ago, and I love working with other brands from our community,” Francesca Aiello, founder and chief creative officer of Frankies Bikinis, told WWD of partnering with the historic West Coast Malibu brand and incorporating their shared beachy California heritages.
The collaboration marks Aiello’s first foray into loungewear.
“We have an amazing swimwear business, knitwear business and dress business, but at the end of the day, we’re not known for heavy, cozy things, so it felt like a good time of year to partner with them and let them lead the way with their incredible Lite fabric that they’ve used forever,” she added of the designs, crafted in Barefoot Dreams’ signature CozyChic and CozyChic Lite fabrics. “It’s just the softest thing ever. I flew home from New York yesterday and I wore an outfit [from the collaboration] and every time I put my sleeve to my face, it felt like I had a blanket on me.”
The collaborative collection features Frankies’ Bikinis bestselling silhouettes, such as zip-up hoodies and sweaters with coordinated lounge pants and tanks with matching low-rise shorts. Additionally, key highlights include new ponchos, Barefoot Dreams’ signature CozyChic hooded robe, with a new feminine rose motif running down its back, and an adorable headscarf. Each piece comes in a range of soft, feminine hues including muted pearl, black, cotton candy pink and ocean mist blue.
“The headscarf is one of my favorite pieces and something I find really unique, and it’s something they’ve never done before. Most of their accessories, I feel are in the kind of sock space. I have been so embarrassingly addicted to headscarves this summer, like a bandanna, so we created one in their fabric. It feels like a hug on your head,” Aiello said of the trending accessory.
Stan Cook, owner of Barefoot Dreams, added in a statement: “Barefoot Dreams has always been about bringing the feeling of home wherever you go, and Frankies Bikinis shares that same appreciation for comfort, style and effortless living. Having known Francesca for years, I’ve watched her build something truly special. Bringing our brands together feels like a natural fit, and we’re excited to share this collection with our customers.”
The Barefoot Dreams x Frankies Bikinis collection is priced at $60 to $220 and available to shop via both brands’ e-commerce and at Frankies Bikinis stores nationwide.
