Jaime Winstone’s icons week routine has been hailed as “the best thing she has done in the competition so far” as she wowed the judges on Strictly Come Dancing.
This week’s instalment of the BBC dancing competition saw the stars channel the likes of Sir Elton John, Adele and Frank Sinatra in a series of themed dances paying tribute to some of their favourite artists.
The 41-year-old actress and her professional partner Carlos Gu channelled David Bowie for their routine, which impressed the judges and earned them a score of 34.
The pair danced a paso doble to Bowie’s hit Let’s Dance, which judge Motsi Mabuse praised as “clever and beautiful”, and described as “like a work of art”.
Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood agreed that the dance was “fantastic” and Anton Du Beke said: “That was the best thing you’ve done in this whole competition, it was absolutely great.
“The floor spin went on and on – it was just immense. I loved it, well done.”
Her famous father Ray Winstone was seen in the audience offering his support, flanked by actor Danny Dyer who was in attendance to watch his daughter Dani perform.
Winstone shared the top of the leaderboard with Love Island’s Cach Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby, who also scored 34 for their “brilliant” foxtrot to Theme From New York, New York by Frank Sinatra.
Big Brother presenter Will Best and Dianne Buswell ended the show with a jive to Crocodile Rock by Sir Elton – which earned them 31 points.
Best received praise after he welcomed his baby boy earlier this week, with the judges and his dance partner acknowledging his efforts while juggling a newborn.
The broadcaster was also presented with a onesie which read “Tiny Dancer”, referencing both his Strictly gig and Sir Elton’s hit song.
Others who impressed the judges included social media personality John Nellis and Katya Jones, who snagged 29 points for their opening number – a paso doble to It’s My Life by Bon Jovi.
Nellis shared joint fourth place with EastEnders actress Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola, who performed an American smooth to Adele’s Hometown Glory, as well as Olympian Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita who danced a samba to Where Is My Husband! by Raye.
Sitting second from the bottom were former Love Island winner Dyer and her partner Nikita Kuzmin, who performed well at the start of the show but seemed to fall flat compared with the tough competition.
Despite their rumba to Hero by Mariah Carey being praised by head judge Shirley Ballas as “beautiful”, they only received a score of 25, leaving them vulnerable to elimination.

In last place were Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon, who danced the tango to That Don’t Impress Me Much by Shania Twain.
Despite being praised for their “attitude, character and dramatics”, the couple scored 21, and Revel Horwood said: “When you went into your solo bits, you lost expression in the body itself.
“You dropped the ball a little bit.”
Saturday’s show also saw the judges get involved in the icons week festivities, as Revel Horwood and Du Beke channelled Britpop band Oasis and sported khaki parkas and bowl cuts to resemble the Gallagher brothers.
Ballas dressed as Lady Gaga, wearing a blonde wig with a telephone on top, and Mabuse wore a yellow hoodie and denim shorts as Beyonce.

It was confirmed that Delta Goodrem is injured and has received a bye to next week, when it is hoped she and Kai Widdrington will dance again.
Presenters Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe offered their well-wishes to the Australian singer at the start of the show.
“Delta, my darling, we know you will be watching at home tonight. I just want to say we are all sending you so much love,” dancer Radebe said.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
