Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi President Nezar Amedi and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, reviewed on Monday bilateral relations and discussed the latest regional developments.
In a telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed measures to de-escalate tensions, address crises, and leverage communication to resolve issues, thereby helping the region avoid further escalation, according to a statement from the Iraqi Presidency.
The two sides reiterated their shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties, encouraging communication, and increasing mutual collaboration in different economic and political sectors.
The phone call builds on Iraq’s continuing diplomatic efforts and follows Amedi’s appointment of a new ambassador to Kuwait last week.
Both parties highlighted their common commitment to improving collaboration across all sectors, resolving shared concerns via constructive diplomatic communication, and maintaining regional stability amid delicate geopolitical conditions.
Earlier, Amedi and the US Secretary-General’s Representative, Marie Yamashita, discussed the developments in the case of the missing Kuwaiti nationals and the work of the technical committee tasked with searching for and identifying human remains and determining the fate of those who are still missing.
Amedi reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to continued cooperation and coordination with the parties concerned, in accordance with its international obligations, and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to resolve the case.
