President Keiko Fujimori stated today that her meeting with her Ecuadorian counterpart, Daniel Noboa, marks the beginning of a new and promising phase in the relationship between the two countries, further strengthening their ties of friendship, trust, and cooperation.
“All of this is for the benefit of our peoples and the shared objectives that guide our bilateral agenda,” the President affirmed during the Presidential Meeting and the 17th Peru–Ecuador Binational Cabinet, held at the Government Palace.
The President noted that the links between Peru and Ecuador date back to the early days of their republican history; however, the signing of the Peace Agreement in Brasília in 1998—by Presidents Alberto Fujimori and Jamil Mahuad—marked a turning point in the bilateral history of both nations.
“Since then, the two countries have pursued an increasingly broad and dynamic agenda of cooperation, integration, and shared development, becoming a benchmark for dialogue, mutual trust, and the joint creation of opportunities for their citizens,” President Keiko Fujimori stated.
She further explained that these presidential meetings and binational cabinets—which emerged as a concrete expression of the commitment to integration following the peace agreement—have become well-established over the years, alongside the Peruvian-Ecuadorian Neighborhood Commission.

President Fujimori noted that, in recent years, both countries have faced challenges such as the fight against transnational organized crime, illegal mining, and human trafficking.
To address these issues, both nations will work together within the framework of the Andean Community, for which Peru currently holds the *pro tempore* presidency. “I am convinced that the Presidential Declaration we will sign at the conclusion of these meetings will serve as an opportunity to reflect the firm commitment undertaken by our governments,” she stated.
