So, it’s probably not, perhaps, the wisest decision to head down to the field to flip the bird to the opposing team’s players… who just handed your team their second consecutive loss.
Not because it could be considered rude, but that it IS considered dumb.
The Texas Longhorns lost 27-24 against the Florida Gators on Saturday so a frustrated Texas fan thought it would be amusing to head down to the field and film himself tossing the middle finger at the very Gator players who were the cause of his frustration.
Because that’s not setting yourself up to be the punchline of a joke.
Now, there may be ramifications for not only the fan, but for whoever allowed the fan on the field in the first place.
“Kid has an access pass on his belt which means someone authorized him – meaning he’s easy to identify,” Yahoo Sports’ Jason Fitz pointed out on X, directing his comment at Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte. “If this doesn’t result in a stadium ban, what exactly would it take? If Texas cares about on field safety & players, you can prove it.”
People agreed that the move was not a smart one.
“Why is he flipping them off? They lost. Kid’s a tool. It’s like making fun of someone after you failed miserably,” one person responded.
“He’s likely a guest of someone who has field passes, but agree with your point,” another said.
“Some Texas megadonor nepo baby for sure. Nothing will be done but it would be great to press them hard enough that they at least have to admit they don’t care about player safety,” someone chimed in.
