Russia would only suspend strikes against Ukraine “specifically on election day”, according to Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
“If they really want to hold elections in Kyiv, [Putin] will be ready to give an order not to carry out strikes on Ukraine on election day,” Peskov said, according to Russian state news agency Tass.
“Specifically on election day. This is a very important clarification,” he says, adding that 60-day ceasefire proposed by Volodymyr Zelensky would allow Ukraine to “heal its wounds” and continue the war.
