SEPANG: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise, Ex Perisai Panthera 2026, on Runway 2 on Oct 14.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said in a statement today that the exercise, scheduled from 8 am to 2 pm, was part of KLIA's ongoing efforts to strengthen its emergency preparedness.
"The full-scale exercise will test response capabilities, compliance with stipulated timeframes and the effectiveness of coordination among the teams involved," it said.
MAHB said the exercise would be conducted with national security and emergency agencies as well as strategic partners, in accordance with the KUL Aerodrome Emergency Plan (KUL AEP) and international aviation safety standards.
"The exercise will involve fire engines, helicopters, simulated smoke and sirens. These activities may be visible or audible from around the Spotter Deck and Jalan Pekeliling.
"All movements and activities have been planned and controlled as part of the exercise, and the public is advised not to be alarmed," MAHB said, adding that flight operations at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 were expected to proceed as usual.
It said any developments concerning airport operations would be communicated through KLIA's official social media channels. — BERNAMA
