From Thursday, 15 October, the maximum permitted speed limit on roads in Latvia will be 90 kilometres per hour (km/h). The exception will be the Vidzeme motorway, Latvian State Roads (LVC) said.
The LVC explained that seasonal changes to the maximum speed limit are being introduced due to changing weather conditions and the approach of winter. Road signs regulating the speed limit will be replaced on 15 October.
Drivers are urged to be careful and to pay attention to road signs.
An exception will be the section of the Vidzeme motorway (A2) from Rīga to Sigulda, where, even in very good driving conditions during the autumn and winter seasons, the maximum speed limit will be 100 km/h, thanks to adaptive traffic management.
