The termination of Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will lead to an increase in railway freight transportation tariffs. This is stated in a report submitted to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council by EAEU members Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which concerns the possible consequences of the EAEU treaty’s termination for Armenia.
“In the transport sector, [Armenia’s withdrawal from the EAEU will lead to] the cancellation of the permit-free regime for road transportation and an increase in railway transportation tariffs for cargo destined for the respective country (as a result of the cessation of the application of the single tariff),” the document states.
