Last season, the Indiana Hoosiers snapped Ohio State’s winning streak, and as the two teams meet for the first time since, Julian Sayin and company have a chance to renew their matchup. However, in the second quarter, Sayin tried to pass to Jeremiah Smith, but Amare Ferrell intercepted it, which eventually led to an Indiana touchdown.
Soon enough, Ohio State fans took to social media and slammed Sayin, with many calling out the quarterback.
“Get Julian Sayin out of Columbus, man,” said one Ohio State fan.
After intercepting Julian Sayin, Amare Ferrell had a 23-yard return for Indiana. This eventually led to a 7-yard rushing touchdown from Turbo Richard, giving the Hoosiers the lead with 13:54 remaining in the second quarter.
A few minutes later, Sayin had another chance to connect with Jeremiah Smith, who actually beat the double coverage this time. The catch was still contested, with the quarterback missing the throw. This forced Ohio State to try to score another field goal, but the team failed.
Nick Saban Says To Stop Jeremiah Smith, Indiana Must Stop Julian Sayin
So far, Jeremiah Smith has been the favorite to win the Heisman this year, and this is all thanks to him playing well with quarterback Julian Sayin. Ahead of the game, on “College GameDay,” former Alabama coach and ESPN analyst Nick Saban said that to stop Jeremiah Smith, one must stop Julian Sayin.
“I think the best way to slow down Jeremiah Smith is to affect the quarterback, and that’s the one thing Ohio State’s going to have to do today: They’re going to have to handle Indiana’s pressure,” Saban said. “Julian Sayin has been affected by pressure. His completion percentage goes down to 56%. Indiana has 49 tackles for loss, so they’re good at getting you behind the sticks, and they have 20 sacks, which is among the top in the country.”
With seven national championships, Nick Saban knows a thing or two about stopping an opponent’s star player, and so far, Indiana has been handling Julian Sayin.
