Parish notes
Evolving Pastoral Area - By now parishioners will know that the pastoral area of Castlebridge, Crossabeg, Oylegate and the half parishes of Screen, Curracloe, Glenbrien and Ballymurn have been reduced to the services of one priest, Fr. Kelly, who is based in Screen. Being in an uncharted situation it will take a while for a definite schedule of services to be arrived at. However, the process has begun.
Fr. Kelly will meet all three parishes over the next week and a half - Castlebridge, Screen and Curracloe: Wednesday 21st October at 7pm in Castlebridge Church. Crossabeg and Ballymurn: Thursday 22nd October at 7pm in Ballymurn Church. Oylegate and Glenbrien: Wednesday 28th October at 7pm in Oylegate parish house
The meetings are open to all parish/pastoral committees, sacristans, readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Safeguarding Reps, collectors, choir’s baptism team, home visitation team and any Parishioner who might like to be part of our pastoral outreach.
Following these discussions and fact-finding, proposals for a way forward will be considered and, as far as is practical, adopted. People have very kindly acknowledged that it won’t be possible to meet every need by virtue of the reduced resources.
Mass Times - Daily Mass: Thursday at 9.30am (Also: 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month). Saturday: 7.30pm.
Baptism Schedule - 4th Saturday of each month at 3pm
Parish Contacts - Fr Kelly 053 9137140/087 9470513. Certificates, newsletter items & general enquiries email: screencurracloeparishoffice@gmail.com Baptism bookings email: parishbaptism@gmail.com
Weekend Anniversary Mass - Anniversary masses are an important occasion for many families. Masses may be booked directly through Fr Kelly or with the Sacristans in any of the churches. It is the aim of the parish that masses will be in both Fr Kelly’s diary and the Sacristy diary of the church where the mass is to be celebrated. Anniversaries which are booked no later than Wednesday before will appear in the next weekend’s Newsletter.
Patrons 2027
The unification of the four Parish areas has required some pastoral change. Blocking the various events together places the least strain on limited priestly resources. With a full years notice it is proposed to alter the dates for our annual Patrons slightly, the proposal being Ballymurn the 2nd Sunday of August, Screen the 3rd Sunday of August, Castlebridge 4th Sunday of August and Curracloe 1st Sunday of September.
