The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) has announced 130 job vacancies for suitably qualified Namibians aboard MSC Cruises ships.
The opportunities form part of a partnership between the NIPDB and MSC Cruises, the world’s third-largest cruise line.
NIPDB spokesperson Catherine Shipushu says the partnership aims to help young Namibians gain international work experience and develop their careers.
“We recognise that Namibia has talented, ambitious young people who are ready to compete on the global stage, but may not always have access to the right opportunities,” Shipushu says.
“Through our partnership with MSC Cruises, the NIPDB is opening doors for our people to gain international work experience, build valuable skills and grow their careers,” she says.
According to the NIPDB, the initial recruitment drive in 2023 and early 2024 attracted more than 8 400 applications. Of these, 42 candidates received job offers, while 25 took up positions aboard MSC Cruises ships.
This year, the initiative has expanded to offer close to 200 job opportunities. So far, 75 candidates have received employment offers, with four having already departed to begin work.
The current opportunities are open to Namibian citizens aged 18 and older who have completed Grade 10, 11 or 12 and are proficient in German.
Eligible applicants can visit www.nipdb.com/msccruises to view the available positions, specific requirements and application forms.
The NIPDB says the partnership is intended to help young Namibians access international career opportunities while contributing to efforts to address unemployment and poverty.
