A routine visit to a Trans Nzoia primary school to sort out an examination dispute has left a family shattered and a community demanding answers after a young woman was allegedly beaten by members of staff.

Jonah Donna Makena, 24, visited Kitale Forest Comprehensive School on October 6, 2026, after her Grade Seven sibling, Alana, was turned away during the examination period for failing to pay lunch fees.
What she encountered inside the staff room, her family says, was a brutal reception.
Makena alleges that a request for clarification quickly turned violent. She claims she was dragged out of the head teacher's office before several teachers set upon her, leaving her crying out in pain while onlookers watched without intervening.
Disturbing footage circulating online appears to show her surrounded by staff members and visibly distressed.
Father's Anguish After Daughter is Attacked in School
Her father, Zaverio Mung'athia, spoke with raw emotion about what the family endured, saying their phones were confiscated during the confrontation.
"We want justice. There is no way a parent or guardian can go to a school to negotiate with the teachers because he or she is the one who pays fees then she is attacked by the school's staff," he said.
He added that his daughter's cries went unheeded by everyone present, a detail that deepened the family's sense of abandonment. Makena's mother, Phoebe Nanjala, directed particular frustration at the female teachers who were in the room at the time.
"After they released her hands, she tried asking for help from the ladies showing them the injuries she had sustained while crying but they turned a deaf ear," Nanjala said.
Kitale Forest School Responds after Attack Claims
The school administration has pushed back firmly against the family's version of events. The Board of Management chairman maintained that Makena arrived at the institution in an aggressive state and that restraining her was necessary.
He confirmed the head teacher had already reported the matter to the police. Police in Trans Nzoia County have since launched an investigation into the allegations, according to earlier reports.
The competing accounts place the case at the centre of a larger conversation about learner welfare, parental rights within school premises, and the extent of authority that school staff can exercise over those who come seeking answers.
