Before the election, Magdalena Andersson said that the Left Party had “a long journey to go” before it could join a government.
Now she says that discussions are underway about what measures the Left Party can take.
“There are measures the Left Party needs to take in order to join a government, and I say the same thing now as I did before the election. That is one of the things we are discussing with them,” Andersson tells TV4.
She does not want to say what demands she is making of the party.
“When you are in negotiations and discussions and trying to untangle knots, you want to be as open and transparent as possible. At the same time, when discussing sensitive issues, it is often best to keep the discussions in those rooms.”
According to the Social Democratic leader, the most important thing is not which parties are part of a government, but that there is a good agreement.
The Left Party’s deputy leader, Ida Gabrielsson, is questioning Andersson’s new statement.
“I don’t know exactly what she means, but we have to sit down and discuss it now,” Gabrielsson tells TV4.
