Ida Odinga stepped up to address a charged crowd in Siaya on October 13, 2026, delivering a no-nonsense message ahead of her late husband Raila Odinga's first memorial, warning that disruptive elements would not be tolerated at the event.
A TikTok video capturing the moment shows a large crowd gathered at what appears to be a roadside public venue, with uniformed security personnel visible among the attendees.
Ida Odinga's warning ahead of memorial
Raila Odinga, the veteran Kenyan opposition leader and former Prime Minister, passed away in October 2025, leaving behind a powerful political legacy and a devoted support base concentrated in the Luo Nyanza region.
His first memorial is set to be a significant occasion, drawing mourners, allies and political figures from across the country and beyond.

Ida made clear, however, that the event was meant to be a dignified celebration of her husband's life, and she was not prepared to allow anyone to turn it into a political battleground.
"The people coming here are not just people from this country only. There are some coming from different countries in Africa whom I hope you will see on that day. There are those coming from outside Africa. I would love us to Baba's event in peace. Baba loved peace. Do not disrupt his memorial. Some people have told me they cannot come here because our children have become goons. Tell them that we do not want noise in Siaya," she said.
