SANA’A — Houthi authorities in Yemen's capital Sana’a announced the dismantling of what they described as a “sabotage cell” allegedly responsible for carrying out bomb attacks, monitoring targets, and providing coordinates to Saudi intelligence.
In a statement, the Houthi-controlled Interior Ministry said security forces raided the group’s location following an operation that led to an armed confrontation.
The ministry reported that one security officer was killed and another wounded during the raid, while two suspected cell members, identified as Abdulqawi Mahdi Ali Ghanim and Saleh Ali Saleh Al-Qusari, were killed. A third suspect was arrested.
According to the statement, security forces seized explosive devices, weapons, and a number of grenades at the site, which authorities said were intended for use in attacks within the capital.
The ministry alleged that the cell had carried out four bombing operations in public locations across Sana’a in recent days using improvised explosive devices. It also accused the group of attempting to set up ambushes targeting military and security patrols on roads linking the capital with other governorates.
Houthi authorities further accused Saudi intelligence of supporting the group’s activities, claiming the alleged operations were aimed at undermining security and stability and putting civilians at risk. The statement, however, did not provide details regarding the specific locations targeted or the timing of the reported bombings.
The Interior Ministry said security agencies would continue pursuing individuals suspected of involvement in activities that threaten public safety. It also urged citizens to report suspicious movements and cooperate with security authorities.
