KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE) heading east towards Lunas, Kedah, from Butterworth-Kubang Semang will be diverted via the Penanti eastbound rest and recreation (R&R) area on Wednesday.
Plus Malaysia Berhad (Plus) said in a statement today that the diversion would be in effect from 10.30am to 12.30pm to facilitate an emergency simulation exercise.
"The exercise will test the efficiency, response times, preparedness and actions of PLUS, rescue teams and relevant agencies when dealing with highway emergencies.
"It will also assess and review the efficiency of rescue procedures for accident victims by the relevant rescue agencies," it said.
The exercise will involve Plus personnel and various agencies, including the Malaysian Highway Authority, police and fire and rescue department.
Other participants include the Health Ministry, Department of Environment, Civil Defence Force, Prifaria Sdn Bhd, a strategic transport partner, and highway maintenance contractor Edgenta Infrastructure Services.
Motorists can obtain the latest traffic updates via the Plus app, its virtual assistant Putri, Plus social media platforms, including its X account @plustrafik, and electronic message signs (VMS) near the exercise site.
They can also contact Plusline at 1800-88-0000 for assistance during emergencies.
PLUS thanked highway users for their patience and cooperation during the exercise.
