Police recovered the body of former additional secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain from beside a staircase on the ground floor of an under-construction building at Dhaka's Officers' Club in Ramna yesterday (16 October).
According to Officers' Club sources, Mosharraf entered the club with his younger daughter around 10am. He later left her at the swimming pool in front of the club and went to the adjacent under-construction building.
His body was found beside a staircase on the ground floor about an hour later.
Mosharraf was a member of the Officers' Club and lived with his family in a house in Banani, Dhaka.
Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of Ramna division, said Mosharraf had visited the club's swimming pool with his younger daughter in the morning. He had some difficulty with his eyesight and apparently fell from the third floor into an open space on the ground floor of the building.
The deputy commissioner said police visited the scene and prepared an inquest report.
He added that the family had requested that no autopsy be conducted. The body would therefore be handed over to the family.
According to family sources, Mosharraf's elder daughter lives in the United States. His burial will take place after she returns to Bangladesh.
