GWANGYANG — POSCO's Gwangyang Works has begun offering influenza vaccinations to its employees ahead of the seasonal flu period, part of a push to maintain a healthy workplace.
The steelmaker said on the 22nd that flu shots are available through Nov. 5 to any POSCO employee based in Gwangyang who wants one. The vaccinations are being administered at the clinic building of the plant's occupational health center. Employees can book a date and time in advance through the company's integrated health system, then visit the clinic with a completed pre-vaccination screening form.
The plant said it will continue working to build a safe and healthy work environment by protecting employee health and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
"Our employees' health is the foundation of safe operations and the company's competitiveness," an official at the occupational health center said. "We will continue to create an environment where employees can work in good health and happiness through a range of health promotion programs."
The Gwangyang plant runs a variety of health management programs through the center, including one-on-one chronic disease management, a daily 8,000-step walking challenge, artificial intelligence-based health screening and psychological counseling. It also offers employees and their families discounts on shingles and cervical cancer vaccinations, as well as support for CT scans, endoscopies and comprehensive health checkups.
The plant said it plans to further expand its health and welfare programs through partnerships with local affiliated medical institutions.
