After selling his stakes in the Los Angeles Lakers and Chelsea FC, Mark Walter’s sports portfolio might soon get even smaller.
Walter is looking to sell the WNBA‘s Los Angeles Sparks, according to a report by Bloomberg on Friday, Oct. 23, which cited anonymous sources familiar with the process.
In August, the Los Angeles Dodgers owner said via a spokesperson that the MLB franchise and Walter’s stake in the Cadillac F1 team were not for sale. That report, by Front Office Sports, did not indicate whether or not Walter was open to selling the Sparks.

Walter’s involvement in the Dodgers seems undiminished by a federal investigation into loans made between entities in his network of affiliated businesses.
Speaking at his end-of-season press conference on Wednesday, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said the team’s offseason was “business as usual.”

“We talked to Mark after we lost (to the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series) and he was obviously really disappointed but so much of his focus was on, ‘OK, what can we do,’ ‘what are our plans,’ ‘what are our thoughts for the offseason?’ And our brains weren’t quite there yet,” Friedman said. “So much of his focus was, ‘how do we put ourselves in the best position to win in ’27?’ “
After the federal investigation into Walter’s financial empire began, Walter entered into an agreement to sell his shares of the Lakers only 14 months after he agreed to buy the NBA team from the Buss family.
Before selling Chelsea, Walter reportedly tried to let Charter Communications cash out of its contract with SportsNet LA, the Dodgers’ regional network.
