The children’s book characters Granny and Tokyo are back, and this time their adventures are going
global.
First introduced to Caymanian readers in 2011 as Kaa Kaa and Tokyo, the fictional characters are being relaunched as Granny and Tokyo, bringing their unmistakably Caymanian humour and adventures to a new generation of young readers.

For the first time, the series will be available in digital picture book format, making Granny & Tokyo easily accessible to children and families around the world while giving Caymanian heritage the opportunity to travel with them.
Leading the relaunch is Granny & Tokyo in Finger Bone, a funny and delightfully spooky new picture book written and illustrated by Caymanian storyteller Rabia Abdul-Hakim, also known as Lady Rabia.

Set in 1930s Cayman Brac, the Granny & Tokyo series follows the hilarious misadventures of the quick-witted, bossy Granny and her unforgettable sidekick Tokyo as they find themselves caught up in one island predicament after another.
Filled with lively rhymes, laugh-out-loud humour and colourful characters, the series transports children back to “the good ole days”, celebrating Caymanian folklore and traditions through the magic of storytelling.

“I want children to fall in love with Granny and Tokyo and keep turning the pages,” Abdul-Hakim said. “But making the series digital also gives us an opportunity to share our heritage with children and families around the world. Granny and Tokyo may come from a tiny island, but their stories can now travel anywhere.”
Granny & Tokyo in Finger Bone is created primarily for children aged 5–8 and will be released worldwide on Friday, 23 Oct. as a digital picture book through Bluff Books, available at www.bluffbooks.co.uk.
