Assam: Intoxicated Youth Hacks Uncle To Death in Tezpur

Tezpur: A man allegedly killed his uncle with a machete in Niraiaati village near Bihuguri in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Sunday night, triggering panic in the area amid Durga Puja celebrations.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Rabha, while the accused, his nephew Devadhar Rabha, also known as Gegai, was arrested by Bihuguri Police in connection with the incident.

According to reports, the incident took place on the night of Kati Bihu. Devadhar allegedly attacked his uncle with a machete, slashing his throat and killing him on the spot. After the incident, the accused reportedly informed his father, Gangadhar Rabha, about the killing, following which the news spread through the village.

Police reached the scene after receiving information from local residents and arrested the accused. The body of Anil Rabha was subsequently sent to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Sources informed that excessive consumption of intoxicating substances may have contributed to the incident. However, the exact circumstances leading to the killing remain under investigation.

The incident has shocked local residents, casting a shadow over the festive atmosphere in the region.
