The Tampa Bay Rays made one of the most impactful moves ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline by acquiring Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets. Peralta is now set to play against the team in the World Series that he pitched for before joining the Mets in the Milwaukee Brewers. On Thursday, Peralta revealed his career plans for his future in Tampa Bay with the Rays, via Foul Territory.
“I’m very comfortable here,” Peralta said. “I would love to stay here for the rest of my career, especially because there’s a lot of people that I love here… They are very smart, they know what they’re doing. I know that they are going to help me to get better for the future years. And also, for me, I live in Florida and everything is easier for me in general. Not only in baseball, but in life.”
Peralta is set to become a free agent following the 2026 season. It remains to be seen if he will return to Tampa Bay, but his comments suggest he’s certainly open to a potential reunion.

The Brewers and Rays will play Game 1 of the Fall Classic on Friday. Nick Martinez is set to start for Tampa Bay. Drew Rasmussen will likely get Game 2, meaning Peralta is on track to start Game 3 of the World Series back in Tampa Bay. He’s pitched well since being traded to the Rays, and he will look to continue to find success in the biggest series of his big league career so far.
