YONGIN — Twenty-eight faculty members at Dankook University have been recognized for their global research influence.
The university said 28 of its faculty were included in the "World's Top 2% Scientists" list jointly released by Stanford University and Elsevier.
The assessment was divided into two categories: a single-year category based on research output in 2025, and a career-long category measuring a researcher's cumulative achievements.
Dankook had 25 faculty named in the single-year category and 14 in the career category. Of those, 11 appeared in both, demonstrating sustained research capability alongside international academic influence.
The "World's Top 2% Scientists" list is compiled using Scopus, a database of academic papers. It analyzes research output, including citation counts, for researchers who have published at least five papers across 22 major academic fields and 174 subfields.
Dankook has been restructuring its research support system to strengthen its research competitiveness. It created a research affairs office to consolidate support functions and revamped its university research funding and research incentive programs. It also expanded tailored support for early-career researchers and strengthened incentives for high-quality papers and citation performance.
President Ahn Soon-chul said the selection "demonstrates the research capability and international academic influence of Dankook University's faculty." He added, "We will advance our support system so that faculty can focus on research, and build a structure in which outstanding research translates into the university's competitiveness."
