Premier Foods Limited, the maker of Peptang sauces, jams and juices, has lost a Sh180.8 million tax fight with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) after it failed to update records that granted its parent company the right to import industrial sugar under a special East African Community (EAC) tax remission scheme.
Premier Foods’ woes began after it took over the manufacturing operations of its parent company following an internal business restructuring.
