Cross-border payments firm LianLian Global’s social commerce, marketplace and eCommerce clients can now send payouts to PayPal accounts globally and Venmo accounts in the United States, the company said in a Thursday (Oct. 22) press release.
The capabilities are enabled by LianLian Global’s new partnership with PayPal and are powered by PayPal Payouts, according to the release.
LianLian Global’s clients can use these capabilities to send fast, low-friction payouts to creators, influencers, developers and independent contractors, the release said.

The new offerings include Pay to PayPal, which enables LianLian Global clients to send payouts to PayPal accounts in 96 countries, using only the recipient’s email or phone number; Pay to Venmo, which lets them send U.S. domestic payouts to Venmo accounts; and PayPal Payouts for Platforms, which lets them send mass disbursements, per the release.
Each of the options eliminates the need for senders to use checks and postage as well as the need to collect routing number and bank account information when paying creators, influencers and independent sellers, according to the release.
“Paying these participants fast, across borders and in small amounts is what powers the network effect of social commerce,” Sandra Lam, deputy CEO of U.S. at LianLian Global, said in the release. “We see our work with PayPal as a key step in building the payout rails for the global gig economy.”
The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Cross-Border Payroll and Contractor Payments Report” found in May 2022 that innovation in cross-border payment methods was top of mind for many firms, especially large organizations wanting to scale their international workforces.
The report found that 63% of firms were “slightly” or “somewhat” interested in innovating their international work payment methods and 24% were “very” or “extremely” interested.
PayPal executives said during a July earnings call that the company plans to reinvest much of the savings from its restructuring in technology, risk and products, including financial services and buy now, pay later (BNPL) across PayPal and Venmo, PYMNTS reported July 28.
In September, PayPal announced that it partnered with Meta on agentic shopping, enabling PayPal customers to seamlessly shop and check out using their Muse personal AI agents across PayPal merchants worldwide.
