President William Ruto visited the construction site in Emgwen Constituency during a development tour of Kapsabet, where he reviewed progress on a series of public infrastructure projects spanning sports, healthcare, roads and energy.
Stadium Designed to Develop Athletic Talent
Beyond seating capacity, the stadium's design incorporates residential hostels to support athletes in training, with the facility envisioned as a launchpad for producing more Kenyan champions on the international stage. The December 2026 completion target gives the project a firm timeline as construction enters its second half.
The President also outlined plans to reshape Kapsabet's road network, committing to 12 kilometres of new roads within the town. The Eldoret-Kapsabet-Chavakali corridor is earmarked for expansion into a four-lane highway, a move the government says will help position Kapsabet as a thriving economic centre.
During the visit, Ruto commissioned the County Government of Nandi headquarters, a facility expected to streamline county administration and improve how public services reach residents.
Healthcare and Electricity Investments Unveiled
Healthcare featured prominently in the President's tour. He opened a Mother and Child Health Complex at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital and laid the foundation stone for a KSh 500 million hospital complex. The new facility will add 120 beds, pushing the hospital's total capacity to 670 beds.
Completion is scheduled for March 2027, with the expanded unit set to offer intensive care, high-dependency care, maternity theatres and renal services.
Ruto also flagged off a KSh 351 million Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project, which will bring power connections to 3,851 households across Emgwen Constituency.
The President's engagements in Kapsabet also included participation in the Anglican Church of Kenya's Kapsabet Diocese 10th anniversary celebrations and thanksgiving service.
