Mining tycoon Solomon "MySol" Soka Madibela's arrival at Mashabela Creatives Studios in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 sent social media into a frenzy. Sol Phenduka shared a clip of the businessman pulling up in a convoy of top-of-the-range luxury vehicles, flanked by bodyguards sporting tattoos on their heads and faces, joking that you know someone means serious business when their security detail looks like that.
The teaser was filmed in the outdoor parking area of the studio, with a red sports car prominently visible in the background. Phenduka quipped on camera:
"Are we interviewing the President? You know you got a serious business, bro, when your guy got tattoos on the head."
MySol is confirmed as the guest for the Thursday, 15 October 2026 episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG, where he is expected to respond to explosive public accusations from North West businessman Benjy Maponya.
The mining dispute behind MySol's Podcast and Chill appearance
Maponya has gone on record accusing Madibela of muscling him out of a lucrative mining operation. According to Maponya, he was the one who originally established the N4 Cluster opencast mining operation at Buffels West after being appointed by Samancor alongside VJ Coal. After VJ Coal went into liquidation, Maponya brought MySol in as a technical partner, forming a joint venture between their respective companies.
However, Maponya alleges that financial discrepancies surfaced shortly after operations got off the ground. He further claims he was pushed out of the business after refusing a series of unusual personal demands, including leaving his wife, deleting his Facebook account, and visiting a sangoma. He alleges the fallout cost him his Hartbeespoort home and that he is now living in Majakaneng. Maponya says he is owed R350 million from the deal.
