It would be “February at the latest,” but Samsung has yet to set a launch date under pressure to finalize component details for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra.
Samsung’s launch schedule has been laid on the same path for years, with minor deviations here and there. The newest Galaxy S device gets released in January or February every year, right after CES and before MWC comes around.
According to a leak by Lanzuk on Naver, Samsung has set the Galaxy S27 series launch date on the fence. The laker says that, at the latest, Samsung would be looking at a February launch, so it’s not an expansive gap between releases that we might be looking at. If Samsung settles on January, even better.
The possible push may be due to Samsung reportedly not having finalized the full component list for the Galaxy S27 series. More specifically, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. The base and Plus models are essentially finished, if this leak is reliable.
The post credits RAMageddon for the timing adjustment. It notes “there are differing opinions regarding the composition and ratio” of the devices. Read straightforwardly, it implies Samsung hasn’t decided how much memory to inject into the two most expensive devices in this lineup.
A potential storage standard upgrade to UFS 5.0 seems to be the biggest contributor to the Galaxy S27’s undecided launch timing. LPDDR6 is also a costly addition, and incorporating UFS 5.0 on these models means they need the hardware to perform, given they both sit at a price point that seems to fluctuate from high to higher.
There’s no concrete timing, and even Samsung has yet to set the date. Still, it looks like it’s highly unlikely Samsung will make any last-minute changes as big as swapping phone models, like last year.
