Shillong, Oct 21: Security has been tightened across Shillong following three separate petrol bomb attacks reported at Keating Road, Kenches Trace and Laitumkhrah, with police intensifying night patrolling to prevent further incidents.
Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Abhilash Baranwal, said no injuries or property damage had been reported in the incidents. Police are examining available CCTV footage to identify those responsible.
“Police are investigating the incidents and examining CCTV footage to piece together the evidence and identify the culprits. As of now, no arrests have been made,” Baranwal said.
He said security arrangements had been strengthened through increased police deployment, magistrate rounds and intensified night patrolling, particularly after midnight, when the incidents reportedly occurred during the early morning hours.
Appealing to residents to remain calm, Baranwal urged citizens to help preserve Shillong’s communal harmony and peaceful atmosphere.
He assured the public that the district administration was taking necessary measures to prevent further incidents and maintain law and order across the city.
