Earlier this week, Duchess Meghan made a rare public appearance in London, grabbing a bite to eat with activist and Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s. Photos showed the pair outside of the Mayfair hotel, where we now know they were having a business meeting over a classic afternoon tea.
The subject of their conversation, according to a new Instagram post shared by both the royal and the Pakistani human rights advocate, was International Day of the Girl. Celebrated every October 11, the day was founded to advocate for gender equality, human rights, and girls’ access to education, healthcare, and nutrition. Doing her part, Meghan announced that today, in partnership with Archewell Philanthropies, 100% of net proceeds from As Ever jams and teas will go to the Malala Fund and “its vital work to ensure that every girl has access to free, safe, quality education.”
“When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this,” the two wrote on social media, alongside their own personal photos from the day. “Tea for two has never felt so good.”
In the images, Meghan can be seen in her thin-knit ivory cashmere sweater from Co, tucked into a pair of bright-white high-waisted pants. The relaxed palazzo trousers, which we got a better look at a few days ago, featured dramatic pleating and a long wide leg, which floated down over her Saint Laurent camel loafers. She added her diamond-and-emerald chain necklace from Logan Hollowell.
