The Keralam government has drawn up a programme ‘One website for one local body’ to make the Local Self-government department’s services more transparent, effective, and people friendly and make information and services easily available to people, Minister for Local Self-government K.M. Shaji has said.
Replying to questions on the scheme in the Assembly on Monday (October 12, 2026), the Minister said dedicated official websites had been readied for 941 grama panchayats, 152 block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 87 municipalities, and six Municipal Corporations in the State. The websites will publish local body profile, details of people’s representatives and officials, Budget, development schemes, information, decisions, reports, tenders, citizen services.
Access to digital services such as K-SMART have also been facilitated through the websites. The public can easily access services such as certificates, property tax, building permits, licences, online applications, and complaint redressal. List of websites of local bodies is available online.
The Minister also said that a QR code-based citizen feedback system had been implemented to collect feedback from public reaching local body offices on quality of services and facilities in offices. QR codes displayed in easily accessible areas could be scanned using mobile phones to give feedback. The feedback will be used to analyse the quality of services, identify problems and address them, and take further action, the Minister said.
