Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s event in Ituine, Igembe Central, was allegedly disrupted by unknown individuals, triggering a confrontation that drew police officers and crowds.
The former governor took to social media on Sunday, October 18, sharing footage purportedly showing the chaos that unfolded after her gathering was interrupted.
The video appears to capture a confrontation between police officers and armed men on one side, facing another group across the road.
Mwangaza accused the officers of protecting the alleged attackers and helping them target her camp, describing the men as government-sponsored goons, alleging that they attacked the gathering while police officers were present at the scene.

The footage shows tensions escalating as the opposing groups appear to engage in a physical confrontation, with officers caught up in the unfolding incident.
As the confrontation continued, people from the surrounding area began gathering near the scene, apparently drawn by the commotion and the presence of armed men.
However, the identities of the individuals involved and the circumstances that led to the alleged interruption were not independently established from the footage shared online.
It also remained unclear whether anyone sustained injuries or was arrested during the confrontation, as the available account did not provide details on possible casualties.
The Okolea Programme, also known as Operation Okolea Kaana Ka Miiru, is a grassroots charity initiative founded by the former Governor that has evolved into a community outreach and political mobilisation platform.
On March 20, youths publicly apologised to Mwangaza, claiming they had been paid and politically influenced to disrupt an earlier Okolea Programme in Antubochiu Ward, where items, including a cow meant for donation, were targeted.
Her gatherings also faced repeated disruptions and alleged intimidation on successive Sundays in May, while on August 29, anti-Mwangaza protests at Meru Primary School turned chaotic after police deployed tear gas, leaving five pupils injured.
