A woman in Haryana's Sonipat is waiting for her son Rehan to return home. But the man who left their house saying he was going to work has been named as one of the three shooters in the firing case involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff.
In an interview with Aaj Tak, India Today's sister channel, the woman claimed that Rehan, who did not even know where Mumbai is, was lured into the world of crime with the promise of earning Rs 2 lakh.
Rehan, Phool Singh and Hrithik Kumar were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota on Monday. They have been charged with attempt to murder and are accused of firing multiple rounds at the actor’s car on Sunday evening as he was leaving after playing a football match in Mumbai’s Juhu area.
The three accused are being held under tight security at Kota’s Railway Colony police station and are expected to be taken to Mumbai on Tuesday.
'NO IDEA HE HAD GONE TO MUMBAI'
During the interview, Rehan's distraught mother recalled how he was sitting at home eating dinner around 20 days ago when someone came to call him.
“We called him several times, but the phone was switched off. We had no idea he had gone to Mumbai. What he did was wrong,” she said.
The mother believes her son was trapped by someone who took advantage of his circumstances. She alleged that Rehan had no knowledge of Mumbai and did not understand what he was being drawn into.
“He was trapped. He had no knowledge of this. Someone took him from here and trapped him there. Some big man trapped him. I also do not know where Mumbai is or how he reached the city. Someone took him away and did not even tell us that they were taking him. I pray to God to save him,” she said.
'HE WAS PROMISED RS 2 LAKH'
According to Rehan’s mother, her son had left his studies a few months ago because of poverty and was learning to weld in Gurugram to help support the family.
She alleged that a man from Bihar promised him a job with his brother and lured him away with the assurance that he could earn Rs 2 lakh.
“He said he would earn Rs 2 lakh. He was a boy from Bihar. He said he would get him a job with his brother. My son was learning welding, but he dropped out due to poverty,” she told Aaj Tak.
For the family, the promise of work has now given way to fear and uncertainty. The mother said neither did she did not even have enough money to travel to Mumbai to meet her son nor did she know where he was being held or what condition he was in.
'PUNISH HIM, BUT DON'T SPARE THEM'
The mother acknowledged the gravity of the allegations against Rehan and said she understood that the law would take its course.
But she also demanded that those who allegedly lured her son into the crime be held accountable.
“His name is involved in a big crime. There has been a firing, and his name is connected with a big gang. The law will do its work. I only say that justice should be done. Those who got this done should not be spared at all,” she said.
In her most desperate appeal, she asked authorities to ensure that accountability did not stop with her son.
“I ask the government with folded hands: if my son did wrong, he should be punished, but those who led my son down this path should also be punished. Both my son and the person who was shot should get justice,” she said.
